Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for my car to be picked up and delivered? We can usually schedule a truck to pick your vehicle up within 3-4 days, sometimes even quicker than that. Delivery of your vehicle will take anywhere from the same day to 14 days since all cars are being loaded on a car carrier ranging from 3 to 10 cars which does take time to load and arrange/re-arrange the cars. Below are the industry standard time-frames, but we strive to go above and beyond those. • East Coast to West Coast – approx. 7-14 days • Midwest to East Coast – approx. 5-8 days • South to North – approx. 5-8 days All shipping times are estimated and should not be considered as guarantees unless you chose a transport package with Guaranteed Pick-up and Delivery Dates. We will always notify you of any delays along the way.
How does door-to-door service work? If you chose a package with Guranteed Door-to-Door Service then we will pick-up and deliver your vehicle to and from your driveway. If you choose the Economy Package, it means the truck driver will get as close to your door as he can, legally and safely. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Transport trucks are massive and need lots of space to maneuver and turn around. If your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask you to meet the him at a different destination. We find that large and empty parking lots work best.
Who can I contact during my transport? You can always contact our office, as we closely follow our trucks, and get a status update. Also, if you prefer to contact the driver directly, we will provide you with his/her phone number.
What about insurance coverage? The insurance policy of the carrier transporting your vehicle keeps your vehicle protected. We will provide you with a copy of the insurance certificate if you request one. This insurance covers all damages caused by accidents while the vehicle is being loaded, major changes in the vehicle’s condition, and unforeseeable damage that is a result of mishandling by the carrier. Please keep in mind that our inspection reports are not all-inclusive and we will not be resposible for conditions on the vehicle from normal wear and tear.
What forms of payment are accepted? Cash, cahiers check, money order and all credits cards are accepted. No personal checks and no business checks will be accepted. Payment must be arranged prior to pick up.
Can customers leave personal items in the vehicle? The US Department of Transportation (DOT) prohibits the carrying of personal items on a truck licensed only for carrying automobiles. By violating this federal law, the company transporting your vehicle can be fined up to $10,000. All personal belongings that are left inside the vehicle will not be insured and no company is responsible for missing or damaged items.
Will my car go to a terminal? We use terminals only in unexpected emergencies. We find that using terminals greatly increases the risk of your vehicle becoming damaged in the process, so we always try to work something out with you, our customer, first. All terminals used are secured, licensed and fully insured.
Why does a truck (SUV) cost more than a regular vehicle? All shipments are based on weight and size that a truck can legally carry. Trucks and SUV's will always cost slightly higher to transport.
What paperwork do I need in order to ship my vehicle? In order to transport you vehicle you don’t need to provide any paperwork. All that we ask from you is a signature and a walk around your vehicle. During this walk you and the driver will inspect the vehicle for any pre-existing damages at pickup.
What should the customer do if the vehicle arrives with damage? Make sure that you let the driver know that the damage is new and were not on the original bill of lading. All damages should be marked and noted clearly and let the driver sign off on them. The next step is to contact our office as soon as possible. Do this as soon as possible as this is a time sensitive matter.
Do I need to be present during pickup and delivery? Yes, it is required that you or a designated person be present upon pick up and delivery of your vehicle. During pick up and delivery a contract “bill of lading” will need to be signed. If unable to be there please contact the carrier prior to the pick up date to confirm your designated person. If you schedule a day for pick up and don’t show up your vehicle may be turned over to a storage facility.
How far in advance should I schedule the transport of my vehicle? We recommend that you do it as fast as possible, but we can work with even a very short advance notice.
